Passwords

Guidance on secure passwords, password managers, passkeys, and protecting website and email accounts.

Strong passwords and good account security practices help protect your website, email, and business services from unauthorised access and security breaches.

  • Use strong, unique passwords for all website, email, and hosting accounts.
  • Avoid reusing passwords across multiple websites or accounts.
  • Passwords should never be shared via email or unsecured messaging platforms.

Password managers

We strongly recommend using a password manager, either as a dedicated application or the password management tools built into modern browsers. Password managers help generate and securely store unique passwords for each service.

Two-factor authentication

Where available, enable two-factor authentication (2FA), particularly for business-critical services such as email, hosting, domains, and website administration.

Passkeys & Biometric Security

Where supported, passkeys and biometric login methods such as Face ID, Touch ID, or Windows Hello can provide additional security and convenience.

These systems reduce reliance on traditional passwords and help protect against phishing and password reuse.

Password Generator

Use a secure password generator to create long, random passwords that are difficult to guess, reuse, or compromise.
